RARE Early 1840 Daguerreotype Congressman ELA COLLINS New York Political History 1700s full leather caseRare early, sixth plate daguerreotype of Ela Collins (February 14, 1786 November 23, 1848), member of the U. S. House of Representatives from New York's 20th district (in office March 4, 1823 March 3, 1825) and lawyer. Collins is identified by a period note affixed to the green silk pad. I think this was taken about 1841 1842 Collins would have been about 56 here and it appears to be the portrait that his Wikipedia image, a drawing, is based on. Most
